The latest member to join the SCQF Partnership team is Kevin McShane who joins us from the College Sector. Here’s an insight into his background and a little about what Kevin will be doing to support the SCQFP.
Tell us a bit about your career to date
My career in education started many moons ago delivering IT learning sessions for the East Renfrewshire Community Learning Team. I then moved to the University of Glasgow, working as Widening Participation Tutor and subsequently with FOCUS West, the umbrella organisation coordinating widening participation activity in the West of Scotland, as a Schools Partnership Officer. I was also employed by New College Lanarkshire, working at HMP Low Moss, as a Social Sciences lecturer. From there I managed a Widening Participation project at University of the West of Scotland before becoming a Developing the Young Workforce Officer at Ayrshire College.
What is your role within SCQFP?
My main responsibility will be to focus on engagement with employers and their associated partners, promoting the benefits of the SCQF and how to best utilise SCQF resources. I will also be contributing to the School Ambassador programme, working with schools throughout Scotland to increase understanding of the SCQF and how this can effectively shape the pupil learning journey. In addition I’ll be facilitating the organisation of the SCQF 2018 conference.
Tell us something interesting about yourself
In 2007 the band I was playing with headlined a stage at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival and we also recorded a couple of albums. In my younger days I could be spotted manning the turntables in various bars and clubs in Glasgow.
