This week the SCQF Partnership team welcomed a delegation from The National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE) of Malta.
The main aims of the visit are to respond to the areas identified by NCFHE staff – grouped under six main themes.
- National Qualifications Framework development and implementation
- Quality assurance and credit rating for the SCQF
- Capacity building and management information systems
- Promotion, awareness raising
- Impact assessment
As well as presentations from the SCQF Partnership Executive Team the bespoke study visit gave the group an opportunity to visit the City of Glasgow College where they had an overview of the college, its links with Malta and, its range of provision (by sector and by SCQF Level) from Head of Client Development & Lifelong Learning, George McVerry; Faculty Director, Sandra Gunn and; Business Development Manager, Jacqui Massie.
Back at our HQ, Colin Morrison, Deputy Chief Executive of the Chartered Bankers Institute Scotland provided the group with a view of the SCQF from a Professional Body.
Later in the week the group heard from Clare Parks, Quality & Enhancement Specialist for QAA Scotland on the role of a quality assurance agency for Higher education and from SQA, Robert Quinn and Matthew McCulloch provided an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
The week concluded with an informative visit to the Scottish Prison Service College in Polmont.
