Preparations for the SCQF Conference 2018, Linking the Learning Journey, continue and we now have the Times Educational Supplement (TES) Scotland on board as our media sponsor.
The conference takes place on 22 February 2018 at the Glasgow Radisson Blu and will showcase all aspects of the Framework demonstrating its breadth and flexibility as a tool to facilitate lifelong learning in Scotland. It will also focus on how the SCQF supports Scottish Government policy such as The Learner Journey, Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) and the Commission on Widening Access.
Paul McKelvie, OBE, former Scotland Commissioner to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) will chair the event and the opening address will be given by John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister for Scotland and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills. Other speakers include Professor Sir Peter Scott, Commissioner for Fair Access; Audrey Cumberford, Principal and Chief Executive of West College Scotland and Grahame Smith, General Secretary of STUC. Author, artist and newspaper columnist Darren McGarvey, aka Loki the Scottish Rapper, will close the conference as our motivational speaker, so we really do have something for everyone!
Delegates will attend two workshops from a choice of six which will showcase a variety of SCQF related projects designed to appeal to all sectors. Workshops on offer include Connecting the Curriculum: a workshop from our ambassador schools to illustrate how they are using the SCQF innovatively to enhance the learner journey and augment the school’s DYW strategy; and Stairway to HEaven: presentations from HEI representatives to show how the SCQF can be utilised at different stages of HE progression.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available, but half of the packages have already been snapped up, so we would urge any partners still interested in attending the conference as a sponsor to act now!
