What is your role within the SCQFP?

I am the Policy Officer, so I am responsible for supporting the development and implementation of policies, working with a wide range of stakeholders to influence policy and legislative changes, project and meeting support, as well as managing the School Ambassadors programme.

What do you look forward to achieving in your role?

I am looking forward to working with key stakeholders to help progress the use of SCQF language and processes in their organisations which will help develop policies related to fair and flexible learning pathways in Scotland.

Career so far?

I most recently worked for the City of Edinburgh Council, focusing on public policy and helping support various committees and conveners. I was responsible for the Transport and Environment committee and then I also worked on the Housing, Homelessness and Fair Work committee. Prior to that, I worked for Barclays on a workplace experience research project that helped Barclays introduce, research, develop and operate their new ways of working in an experimental work environment.

Authority

Appears at Level 12 only where it is used in the phrase ‘demonstrate substantial authority’, reflecting a recognised high level and depth of expertise/expert knowledge and understanding, along with confidence. It does not mean ‘exercise authority over staff and resources’ etc, as that could clearly apply at earlier levels.

In this latter sense, the term applies in all contexts including academic study, eg footnoting properly.
