What is your role within the SCQFP?
I am the Head of Assurance, and my role centres on safeguarding the integrity and reputation of the SCQF. I lead the processes that guarantee consistency across all qualifications on the Framework, building the trust that learners, employers and educators across Scotland place in it.
What do you look forward to achieving in your role?
I am deeply motivated by the ‘All Learning Counts’ ethos, and my role is key to promoting it. I look forward to collaborating with our partners to ensure that the SCQF provides access, equity and mobility for every learner. By fairly recognising all forms of learning, we can open up progression pathways and remove barriers. I am also committed to harnessing new digital technologies to make our assurance work more effective and accessible for everyone.
Career so far?
My career, which began as a seafarer, has been dedicated to supporting learners for the better part of two decades, primarily within the college sector immersed in engineering education. From managing workshops and simulators to overseeing professional licensing and Modern Apprenticeships, I have always thrived on new challenges, with a passion for quality standards being the constant thread. Now, I am proud to be part of an organisation that so powerfully embodies lifelong learning, empowering people by ensuring all their learning counts.
