What is your role within the SCQFP?

As the Chief Executive of the Partnership, I am its Accountable Officer and have overall responsibility for the organisation’s leadership, performance and strategy delivery, based on the Board of Directors’ direction. I’m the key spokesperson for the Partnership in its relations with government officials, nationaI and international partners, promoting the Scotland’s national framework of qualifications. I also report to the board on our finances, risk management and people matters.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Apart from working and benefiting from the knowledge and expertise of the team here at SCQFP, my greatest pleasure is in working with our trusted partners to promote equity and mobility in learning recognition for all Scotland’s learners through the use of the Framework. Fairness and justice have always been my core values, so to work within an organisation that promotes these through the use of a cohesive recognition framework is a real joy.

Career so far

I have had a wide-ranging career history working at senior level across public, private and third sectors, including local authorities, non-departmental public bodies and, more recently, the Scottish Government.

For over 20 years I ran my own research and management consultancy business supporting organisations, projects and individuals to review their achievements, assess what works, plan for change and development and deliver effective services.

I’ve worked to deliver plans and strategies across regeneration, grant-making, economic development, health improvement and lifelong learning sectors at the same time as acting as a non-executive director for several UK, Scottish and local non-profits, with a focus on fairness, tackling inequality and well-being.
