The programmes are designed for those already working in, or wishing to work in, the event, management, security, service and health & safety sectors of the industry. They provide candidates who have experiential learning but no qualifications with a head start and, for those interested in an academic pathway, an introduction to further and higher education. The suite of programmes can be used as a springboard to an MSc at Edinburgh Napier University for those completing it.

These programmes are unique and undertaken by all the Arenas in the UK (and some in Europe) as well as a range of festivals and event businesses. All facilitators are experts in their fields and take a pride in the quality provision of the programmes. These are taught through the “learning in the round” philosophy where experts, facilitators and attendees constantly swap places, each developing their own unique style, skills, and knowledge.

By using scenario-based learning, live exercises, and snippets of theory alongside the development of practical solutions for challenges, those undertaking the programmes learn, not only how to use their problem solving, decision making, leadership and communication skills, but also the value of networking with other like-minded people.

Having SCQF credit rating means that each short programme builds sufficient credits to provide the same base as a 20-credit university module at SCQF level 8 and can be used in credit transfer to degree programmes in the same field across Europe.

“These courses are ground-breaking and provide education through turning theory into practice. By using the scenario-based learning techniques in the venue and working with other professionals we were able to solve challenges as a team.”

Michelle Cruise, Assistant Head of Events (The M&S Arena Liverpool)
