Organisations secure funding to develop IDL learning programmes

A group of secondary school pupils and a teacher stand together in a woodland area, examining something on the ground as part of an outdoor learning activity. The students wear jackets and backpacks, with some holding clipboards and a tablet, while one kneels to look more closely.

The SCQF Partnership (SCQFP) has announced the organisations that will receive funding to have their interdisciplinary learning (IDL) programmes credit rated on the SCQF.

IDL programmes help young people learn by connecting different subjects and exploring real‑world issues.

Adding the programmes to the SCQF gives them recognition nationally and internationally and assures the quality of learning.

Successful funding bids

The organisations receiving funding are:

  • The Wood Foundation
  • Futures Institute at Dollar Academy
  • Class Of Your Own
  • Create School
  • Kelvinside Academy
  • Young Enterprise
  • Edinburgh College / Code Division

The SCQFP was commissioned by Education Scotland to manage the funding distribution, with applications being invited for programmes that focused on:

  • Social justice
  • Political literacy
  • Digital literacy
  • Creativity
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Health and wellbeing

‘Recognised and trusted’ learning programmes

Donnie Wood, Head of Pathways Policy at the SCQFP, said: “We are delighted to support these organisations as they develop exciting and innovative interdisciplinary learning programmes for young people across Scotland.

“These projects will give learners valuable opportunities to connect ideas, explore real‑world challenges and build skills that will help them thrive in the future.

“By going through the credit rating process and being added to the SCQF, we can ensure that these learning programmes are recognised and trusted for years to come.”

Over the coming months, we’ll be shining the spotlight on these organisations in a new blog series to discover more about their learning programmes.
