Qualifications in Scotland have changed a great deal over the past few years and job applicants can now take a variety of routes to their ideal career. Therefore it is important for employers to understand the broad range of qualifications available. 

The aim of SCQF Inclusive Recruiter is to help employers and HR professionals understand that many different qualifications have the same worth and to encourage use of SCQF Levels in the recruitment process to offer clarity around skills and experience.


By using SCQF levels rather than specific qualifications in job adverts, employers large and small can widen the pool of potential applicants who may have a variety of qualifications, skills and experience at the required level. They can therefore recruit the right person with the right skills into the right job which is great for the organisation’s productivity and employee satisfaction.


To become an SCQF Inclusive Recruiter, employers are asked to watch and answer some simple questions on a very short training video. They sign an MoU agreeing to incorporate SCQF levels into their recruitment processes to better highlight the skills and experience required for any given post, and not just specific qualifications. The employer is then sent the SCQF Inclusive Recruiter logo for use on their website and recruitment materials. The employer logo is added to an SCQF Inclusive Recruiter “wall” on the SCQF website to further promote their status.
