What is
Recognition of
Prior Learning (RPL)?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that allows individuals to gain formal recognition for the skills, knowledge, and experience they have already acquired — regardless of where or how the learning took place. This might include learning gained through work experience, volunteering, informal study, life experience, or previous education and training.
RPL can help people achieve SCQF credit points towards future qualifications, avoid unnecessary repetition of learning, and open up new opportunities for education or career progression.
Our RPL Guide signposts people in Scotland to a range of information relevant to their needs. Try it today.
