Many staff working in education will understand credit transfer for existing formal qualifications. But what about non-formal and informal learning?

Our RPL Guide helps learning providers, employers and HR staff understand how people can use work experience, volunteer activities, and everyday learning towards achieving qualifications.

Non-formal learning: Takes place alongside the mainstream systems of education and training. It may be assessed but does not typically lead to formal certification; for example, learning and training activities undertaken in the workplace, voluntary sector or trade union and through community-based learning.

Informal learning: This is knowledge gained from life and work experiences.
