Our Nomenclature Explained leaflet which gave advice on the titling of qualifications and learning programmes within the SCQF was first published in 2011. The range and type of qualifications and learning programmes on the SCQF has expanded and changed since then and it was felt that the time was now right to refresh this publication.

Whilst the SCQF is incredibly flexible in what it can include it is equally important that the title of your programme doesn’t cause confusion for learners and takes into account that some titles are protected and can only be used by particular bodies and sectors.
