The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) Partnership has recruited the 200th school into its School Ambassador Programme.

The SCQF School Ambassador programme offers secondary schools the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of the SCQF and the wider ways in which it supports learners. These include recognising wider achievement, developing senior phase learning pathways and demonstrating equality between vocational and academic qualifications.

The milestone was celebrated at the Highland Council school by pupils and teachers alike who are delighted to have been recognised for their participation in the programme.

Andrew Brown, Head Teacher at Charleston Academy, said:

“Being part of the SCQF Ambassador programme is an important step for Charleston Academy in our curriculum improvement journey.  We are inspired by the stories shared through the SCQF website and look forward to our ongoing involvement with the programme which will without doubt benefit all young people positively.”

Donnie Wood, the SCQFP Development Officer who manages the programme, added:

“Congratulations to Charleston on being the 200th school to join the SCQF School Ambassador programme! Schools all across the country are using the SCQF to create exciting and engaging opportunities for their young people, helping them to progress on their own learning journeys. By providing support and resources for schools, staff and pupils can more easily get parents and partners involved in conversations around qualifications and understanding their equivalence.

It’s inspiring to see 200 schools all committed to raising awareness of the SCQF, training pupils and parents, and developing strong links with colleges, universities, and employers so that the qualifications young people are gaining in school are recognised and valued by all.”

The SCQF School Ambassador Programme is free to join and is open to any secondary school in Scotland. Schools also have the opportunity to advance through the programme by meeting specific criteria to achieve Bronze, Silver, and Gold Ambassador status.
